Why Indian Founding Fathers supported the Palestinian cause.

India knows the pain of losing its land. At thr time of inedependence, the British empire’s stooge, the Muslim League under the drunkard Mohammad Ali Jinnah snatched large portions of Indian soil and named it Pakistan. Indian leaders very well understood the gross injustice and the pain, cause when a new country is carved out of your soil.

“Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English, or France to the French,” Mahatma Gandhi wrote in Harijan on November 26, 1938.

After independence, India maintained a pro-Palestinian stance until the recent BJP government lead by Narendra Modi.

Even the stalwart if BJP, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India too passionately supported Palestine and rejected the occupation powers vehemently.

Israel must leave the Arab lands that it has occupied: Atal Bihari Vanpayee.

Atleast here, the people who carved a new state were indeginous people of India. While in case of Palestine, Ashkenazi Jews came from Europe.

Those were the days when people used to stick to some ideals and moral values.
